4 Ways to Make the Most of Friend Day

Friend Day 2018 is upon us! I want to share with our church family 4 ways to make the most of this special service.

The absolute best way to have a successful Friend Day is to pray. If God’s in it, our event will be a success because God never fails.

Let us be in serious prayer in a few areas:

Pray for God to be Glorified. Our desire is to lift up Jesus Christ.

Pray for the Salvation of the Lost. The goal of Friend Day is to invite our friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to hear the gospel and be saved!

Pray for me. As I study, I am praying for your guests and endeavoring to preach the gospel with great clarity. Pray that God will give me wisdom as I prepare to lead the service on Sunday.

The old radio preacher, Woodrow Kroll, once said, “Fervent prayers produce phenomenal results.”

Friend day is a great opportunity for us to invite our friends, family, and acquaintances to church. For some reason, it seems that the hardest people to invite are those that we are close to. A specific event like Friend Day is a great reason to invite them to our church.

Utilize the tools we have provided for you. Invite cards, Facebook posts, postcards, etc. are good tools to help you get the word out. There are still a few days left to get involved in this way.

The greatest hockey player to ever play the game, Wayne Gretzky, once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” If you don’t invite them, they won’t come. Don’t let the fear of rejection keep you from inviting your friends and loved ones to be your guest on Sunday. Babe Ruth used to say, “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” This is good encouragement in our outreach!

God has a way of taking our efforts and multiplying them. If all of us our diligent to invite and pray, there will be fruit. I encourage you to get involved.

This goes without saying, but staying home is the opposite of making the most of Sunday! Your attendance for church services is a huge encouragement. Hebrews 10 tells us to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…” Just being in the service is an encouragement to other believers. Be in your place this weekend!

Every time we meet together is an opportunity to serve one another. Friend Day is no exception. There is tons to do! Come ready to greet one another with warm handshake, help serve the meal, invite guests to sit with you, and help clean up after the service. The more you put in to the day, the more you will get out of it. It always amazes me that whenever I endeavor to be a blessing, I somehow walk away feeling blessed.

Friend Day, or any Sunday for that matter, will be a success when we all endeavor to serve one another.

Make the most of Friend Day by praying, inviting, attending, and serving!

I know God has great things planned for this Sunday at Desert Streams Baptist Church. Let’s take some thoughts from this post and be diligent to make the most out of this Sunday.

Note: If you are reading this after December 2, these principles apply to every service at your local church. When we are determined to pray, invite, attend, and serve during any given service, God will do wonders!
